Halifax Biomedical Inc. (HBI), a leading provider of micro-instability assessment using very precise proprietary Digital Stereo Radiography (DSR) imaging technology (HALIFAX exams) and Arcoma AB., a leading provider of digital radiography (DR) products and high-end auto-positioning radiography solutions announce a cooperation to incorporate Arcoma equipment into HBI’s new mobile Digital Stereo Radiographic (DSR) Suite.
The cooperation will allow HBI the ability to bring their advanced DSR technology to multiple hospitals and clinical sites in order to complete clinical validation of this new technology. The initial mobile suite is slated for the US Northeast with additional suites anticipated to come online in the future.
DSR is a technique whereby two x-ray images are taken simultaneously from different angles for the purpose of accurate 3D measurement of implant or bone position and displacement. The mobile DSR will focus on HBI’s spine instability application which measures dynamic 3D vertebral motion of the lumbar spine using complex image analysis algorithms.
Halifax Biomedical selected Arcoma as its supplier based on the clinical utility of Arcoma’s equipment as well as Arcoma’s reputation for quality. According to J. Erik Giphart, Ph.D., Chief Technology Officer at Halifax Biomedical, “Arcoma provides the type of unique solutions and flexibility required to package an advanced x-ray imaging system into a very challenging space. Arcoma will provide us with support in completing the project through their general applications knowledge and experience.”
According to Jonas Salomonson, CEO of Arcoma AB, “We are very excited to be working with the team at Halifax Biomedical and gratified that our products and experience was selected by HBI to realize this new mobile DSR suite.”
